advanced-laparoscopic

Dr. Kalan did a Fellowship training in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at the George Washington University Medical Center, Washington, DC, in 1998-1999. He specializes in the Minimally Invasive Surgery of a wide range of benign and malignant diseases in the abdomen and pelvis. Minimally Invasive Surgery patients benefit from small scars, less postoperative and chronic pain, quicker recovery of bowel function, less need for narcotic analgesics and lower incidence of wound infections, among many other recognized benefits.

Patients are initially assessed to determine their suitability to undergo any laparoscopic procedure. This involves a detailed discussion with your surgeon, who will lay out his thoughts and plans, pros and cons, and the reasons behind his recommendations or reservations. Those who are deemed suitable candidates and are interested, will be offered laparoscopic surgery.
